Kim Christopher Welinski

Owner and principal photographer at asterisk photography, Kim first studied at UTS where he obtained a Bachelor of Business (with Distinction) and spent 14 years working in the financial markets.

His passion for photography saw him later study under Murray Fredericks and Gordon Undy at point light gallery, especially the fine art of black & white silver gelatin darkroom printing.

With young children of his own, Kim learnt first-hand how to take portrait photographs of kids in a very candid and natural manner.

Yet it has always been the spontaneous nature of a wedding that has inspired Kim the most.

The 2000 Sydney Olympics renewed his determination to photograph in a journalistic style and September 11, 2001 was the catalyst for him to make a new start in business.

Kim not only runs the studio but also takes time-out to teach digital photography to amateurs and budding professionals through Sydney Photographic Workshops (SPW) in his West Pymble studio.

“Having gained so much insight from my many gifted teachers over the years it’s now a privilege to be able to share that knowledge with others who are also keen to learn.”

At the end of the day it is the reward of having satisfied clients that sees Kim photographing time-after-time.

Frank Farrugia

Photographer and graphic designer, Frank studied at UWS where he obtained a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) majoring in Photomedia.

His passion has always been commercial and portrait photography, especially fashion.

Yet his work is both expressive and reflective thereby creating exciting and stylised images suited to a wider range of genres including weddings.

Early exhibitions included Play 2007 & Art Sydney 2007.

“Each photograph should not only represent the true essence of the subject but also reveal piece by piece the fundamental nature of the person behind the camera.”

Frank is also a regular tutor at SPW, teaching both the Beginner course and the Lightroom course on post-production.
